EULAG Users Workshops

6th International EULAG Users Workshop on "Efficient forward-in-time methods for geophysical research and all-scale weather prediction" was held at University of Warsaw, between 28-30 May 2018. The workshop brought together researchers working with forward-in-time methods, to exchange information on EULAG-based research projects and to discuss recent developments on numerical and computational advancements with EULAG, COSMO-EULAG and IFS-FVM.

5th International EULAG Users Workshop on "Numerical and computational methods for simulation of all-scale geophysical flows" was held at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Reading, United Kingdom, from 3 to 6 October 2016. The workshop aimed to bring together scientists working on the various aspects of model development. In particular, interdisciplinary research and progress on numerical schemes, parallel and energy-efficient computing, coupling of resolved/subgrid-scale parametrised processes and multiscale interactions that could be relevant for numerical weather prediction were welcomed.

4th International EULAG Workshop was held 20-24 October 2014 in Mainz, Germany. Forward-in-time differencing methods have a long tradition in fluid dynamics on different scales. One im- portant and long-running example is the model EULAG, used for about twenty years in diverse fields of research. The workshop aims to bring together researchers working with forward-in-time differencing meth- ods in different research areas related to Earth-System-Models. As in previous years the workshop will also served as a forum for exchanging information about recent developments in the EULAG model.

3rd International EULAG Workshop was held 25th -28th June 2012 in Loughborough UK. The workshop aims to bring together researchers from multidisciplinary backgrounds to discuss recent progress and experience related to Eulerian and/or Lagrangian based fluid solvers. It focused on methods development, complex multiscale simulations and their validation. As in previous years, the workshop also served as a forum for the exchange of information among EULAG model users and developers of related numerical methods.

2nd EULAG Model Users' Workshop took place in Sopot, Poland, 13-16 September 2010. The recent years brought a significant development of the EULAG code aimed at diverse research applications. Concomitantly, new ideas have emerged in the atmospheric community on the theoretical and numerical formulation of sound-proof equations. The primary topic of the workshop will focus on the review of the current status of inelastic models and their applications. On this topic, we invite contributions from the larger geophysical, computational fluid dynamics community on all aspects of inelastic atmospheric and oceanographic modeling.

1st EULAG Model Users' Workshop was held in Bad Tâ–’lz, Germany 6-10 October 2008. We envision this workshop as a practical event, rather than a formal conference. We plan on 20 minutes presentations summarizing the scope of work, achievements and difficulties. The latter one is particularly important as some of such could have been solved already by others. The workshop offered tutorials covering essential physical, mathematical and numerical aspects of EULAG and provided a forum to exchange information and ideas among EULAG users.
